Invalid Calculation

Bug Report

Issue: Calculations using the “BasisValue” column of the shared Effective Useful Life and Remaining Useful Life value table result in validity error. However, the equation is still evaluated correctly in the permutation.

Business Impact: Unknown or potentially false validity error, creating confusion and low confidence with the calculation.

    The shared EUL table had erroneously set the "BasisValue" column as text data type. Prior to Release 3.7, eTRM calculations were only numerical, and the calculation validity did not check for data type. Hence, the calculations that use "BasisValue" were all valid. After Release 3.7 and the introduction of text-based calculation, eTRM started to validate the data type of the input variable as part of security requirement. As a result, calculations using the text "BasisValue" are all now invalid. The calculation and permutation still evaluated to the correct results because the text BasisValue was cast to a number during evaluation.

    Cal TF Staff has corrected the table column to a numerical data type. See Effective Useful Life and Remaining Useful Life (v61). To resolve the validity issue, upgrade the Effective Useful Life and Remaining Useful Life shared dependency to the latest version. Note, when you upgrade dependencies, please check your permutations mapping and rebuild the permutations.

    Cal TF Staff is investigating a solution to update the data type of past shared value table versions.
